The Joy of Lavagna…yet again.

Located 2 blocks south of the Eastern Market metro station on 8th Street in Washington, DC,  Lavagna prides itself on its dedication to Italian cuisine; its reliance on local farms; hand-made pastas and seasonal menus; and its in-house, smoked and cured meats.  It’s also unbelievably affordable.

We recently had the pleasure of returning to the Italian restaurant on a rain-soaked Saturday, to surprise mom with out-of-town relatives who were visiting for the weekend.  We shared the following :

Charcuterie Board with blue, goat and gouda cheeses; crostini; house-cured meats; house-pickled vegetables; house preserves; and olives.

Fusilli chicken with kale, parmesan cream, red peppers and shallots.

Pappardelle lamb with lamb ragu and red peppers.

Rigatoni pesto with basil, pine nuts, and house Italian sausage.

For dessert we shared a couple of strawberry panna cottas and coffee.  My family raved about the meal and outstanding service from Lindsey for days.  The compliments don’t come any better than that–especially from a family of Italian-Americans from New York City.
