Light and the Huntress…

Diana, the goddess of the hunt and the moon, is also associated with light.  It is fitting then that the gold-leafed statue of her, which originally sat atop Madison Square Garden’s tower in 1891, now guards the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Great Stair Hall.  Sculpted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, she welcomes visitors to the museum and is an iconic part of the City of Brotherly Love.  And what better way to honour the goddess than to surround her with thousands of points of light during the season of warmth and sparkle ?
